Lightweight and Safe Plastic Extrusions for Electrical Systems
Plastic profiles for electronics use are common in many systems. We manufacture standard channels, seals and covers to support electrical installations and products.
Explore our plastic extrusions to find profiles for space-efficient wiring, cable insulation, seals, gaskets, light covers and more.
We specialise in custom plastic extrusions, especially good for supporting non-standard arrays.
Applications of Custom Plastic Extrusions in Electrical & Lighting
Electrical extrusions are commonly used in cable management and electrical enclosures. We can extrude plastic to create custom shapes, gaskets, light covers and more.
Common electrical extrusion uses include:
- Busways
- Raceways
- Cable channels / U Channels
- Battery covers
- Cable insulation
- Thermoplastic Sealing
- Closures
- Harnesses
- Lighting Covers
Windmill Extrusions: Safe Electrical Extrusions
As plastic extrusion suppliers with other 35 years’ experience, Windmill Extrusions reliably provide advice, design and durable extrusions in the right material for your application. Electrical installations require heatproof materials, insulation and lightweight plastics. View our full extrusion materials list here.
We invest in updating our tooling and dies to meet the demands of the modern market. Many of our custom dies and casts are made in-house, maximising efficiency to cut wait times.
Thanks to our in-house tooling, we can offer our customers a fast turnaround and modify the designs as needed.
FAQs – Bespoke Plastic Extrusions For Electrical
Can I get custom plastic extrusions for my specific electrical or lighting project?
Absolutely. We work to your requirements to manufacture any length of extruded plastic in custom profiles. We adjust our tooling and create new dies in-house to reduce lead times and provide superior service.
What materials do you use for electrical and lighting plastic extrusions?
The plastics used for electrical extrusions and lighting extrusions depend on the specific application. As well as PVC extrusion, we manufacture electrical profiles from plastics including:
- uPVC – unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride: a high-strength thermoplastic material.
- Polycarbonate (PC) – strong, resilient plastic with high heat resistance, ideal for tubing & light covers
- High-density polyethylene (HDPE) – A low friction, waterproof and chemically resistant plastic used for tubing, crates and wire jacketing.
We also work with
- Polypropylene (PP) – A tough, rigid and crystalline thermoplastic with high durability and impact strength, used for window components, cutting boards, microwavable containers and medical applications.
- Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) – A thermoplastic that is robust yet flexible.
- Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) – clear, strong, lightweight, 100% recyclable
- Specialised thermoplastic elastomers – easy to process
Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) – flexible, rubbery, good chemical resistance and a high friction coefficient, used for gaskets and anti-vibration padding.
How does extruded plastic improve the efficiency of lighting systems?
PVC profiles and other extruded plastics can increase efficiency in lighting by supporting a layout that distributes light effectively and improving insulation to reduce heat loss.
